jane Just read an article about a new broadband service just launched recently by Liberty Broadcasting Network Incorporated in partnership between San Miguel Corporation and Qtel Group). It uses 4G technology called WiMAX or Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access that provides wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes. Its introductory price is Php998 per month with up to 1Mbps bandwidth. It uses a wi-tribe BOOM 4G Broadband Modem (Motorola “MOTOWI4 CPEi 150″ Home Modem).

I am currently using 3G technology with SmartBro but after reading your review of W-Tribe I may switch. Im paying the same price for outdated technology. Thanks for your help

DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME WITH WI-TRIBE. After more than 10 days since date of purchase, and after having done all the troubleshooting by their tech support, here is my email to them.
Hello Wi-Tribe,
Yesterday, May 12, 2010, Mr. TATS of your technical support visited my wi-tribe unit in Malabon and made some troubleshooting. I believe you have his report by this time, that I have 4 to 5 bars lit on my modem. I had to bring the modem to my house in Mindanao Avenue, Novaliches to test the connection further. But until 11:30 pm of that same day, my connection even got worse, speedtest.net won’t even push through (how can i even send you the images of my ping, speedtest and tracert).
That’s it for me. I am done with your LOUSY SERVICE. I am now TERMINATING our business transaction. I am demanding a FULL REFUND. Return to me the amount of Nine Hundred Ninety Eight Pesos (Php998) and I will return your modem. Or you can spend more than 998 filing lawsuits. Unless you can guarantee that you can fix this intermittent connection problem by Monday, May 17, 2010.

Interesting blog. I don’t know much about Wi-tribe broadband. I am using Smartbro, it’s quite ok but sometimes I’m having dead signals. Wi-tribe is much cheaper than I am using now. I think I’m gonna give a try of it. Thanks for the information you share. Very informative.
I’ve been using this service for a few months now. It’s not worth it. The fastest bandwidth I get is maybe 70kbps if I’m lucky. When I complained they automatically upgraded me to a higher plan instead of fixing my bandwidth! Be very careful with some of their service reps!

I have a question about the 4G. We have recently started seeing ads pop up everywhere in South Africa about this. I have however not heard of anyone raving about it.
I enjoy playing games a lot and the online games platform I play through works well through my wireless network at home, which is connected to a normal ADSL land line.
However I struggle on 3G. Getting to my question… Do you really get the transfer rates you mentioned above?
We just have so many services over here bragging about a certain transfer rate and then it only delivers a fraction of that.

wi-tribe ph is a joke! For three days we sent emails using their provided outgoing smtp settings, none were delivered and we received no notification of delivery failure.
we strongly recommend avoiding these clowns at all cost. Not only is their customer service deplorable – the much vaunted online chat feature is yet to actually be available – their tech support is non existent.
